How the yarn is figured

A four-ounce skein weaves about one square foot, including what is lost to joins and waste. Each color's ounces are its area in square feet times 4. Yards are those ounces times the yarn's yards per ounce: 24 for Size 0, 43.75 for Size .75, 50 for Size 1 and 75 for Size 2.

Edging cord is the width times the edging number, and side selvage cord is the length times the selvage number.

With Match to our yarn colors on, each chart color is paired with the nearest of our yarns, judged the way the eye sees color rather than by the raw numbers. Chart colors that land on the same yarn are added together, so yards, ounces and skeins for each yarn come from their combined area.
