I titled Gloria Begay’s latest weaving “The Glorious Chief Blanket Revival.”  Every Navajo weaving is somehow glorious.  Every Navajo weaving is an expression of beauty, a symbol of resilience,  a tribute to the ancestors who passed these exquisitely elegant techniques down, and a legacy for the future.

Navajo rugs are also a means of fulfilling the need for income, and Gloria needs to sell this beautiful weaving to provide the resources to get her truck on the road to a weaving class.   Therefore, I am not spending three hours enthusing about what a weaving tour de force this rug is.  Trust me, it is.  If you buy it, I’ll rhapsodize about it to your heart’s content.

Look at the picture gallery; you’ll see the craftsmanship and artistic skill that has gone into every row. If you were shopping in a gallery in Santa Fe or Sedona, this is a $6000 weaving any day of the week.
