Lamb’s Pride Worsted is Brown Sheep’s classic blend of 85% wool and 15% mohair–a well-known staple in every knitter or crocheter’s stash. The recommended needle size is 8, and Navajo weavers generally work with it at 8-10 ends per inch, with eight ends per inch being more common.  Brown Sheep spins Lamb’s Pride to the same specifications as the 100% wool Top of the Lamb Worsted.  As a result, the Lamb’s Pride and Top of the Lamb Worsted can be used interchangeably. The mohair content of Lamb’s Pride makes it somewhat fuzzy, so Navajo weavers often shave their finished rugs to eliminate this.   Yes, with a razor.

Lamb’s Pride Worsted: A Navajo Weaver’s Mainstay

It’s estimated that 85% of all contemporary Navajo rugs are woven with Brown Sheep Top of the Lamb and Lamb’s Pride, so we carry a lot of it.  Lamb’s Pride comes in a wide range of colors, so you’re sure to find something that you’ll like.  We purchase Lamb’s Pride in pull-out skeins, which means that you won’t need to wind them unless you want to.

Lamb’s Pride Worsted is a great moderately-priced option for any project calling for worsted weight wool, which means it’s been used by a great many makers.  Ravelry lists over 50,000 projects that have used it.  You name it, it’s been knitted with Lamb’s Pride.

Felters also love Lamb’s Pride Worsted!  It’s often used for felted slippers, bags, and hats.  One of our customers even had a skein express-mailed to Denmark because nothing available locally worked as well.  That’s a yarn that performs!
