Cassowary

Cassowary is splitty and isn’t the best choice for a first-time sock knitter.  The colors are gorgeous, though, and you’ll like the results.  Consider simpler knits where stitch definition isn’t a consideration.  These free(!) patterns are a good match for Cassowary:
