Mary Walker crocheted this Ra-Ra Raffia Fedora using the Cowboy Hat Fedora Secret pattern by Natalia Maksiuta.  Natalia creates some of the best patterns for raffia from her home in Ukraine.   When Mary became interested in raffia, Natalia’s patterns and their accompanying video tutorials became her go-to sources for working with this new-to-her material.

We are using these hats for shop models.  People started asking how much we’d sell them for, leading us to look at that question seriously!   

About Thie Ra-Ra Raffia Fedora

Mary used Ra-Ra Raffia from Wool and Gang for the hats. It has a detachable crocheted raffia hatband decorated with two Navajo ceremonial baskets that might be earrings by Janet Begay. The result is a hat that’s a unique expression of your fashion sense, and it’s got bonus earrings or some swell hatband flair.   The decision is up to you! 

Millinery wire and fabric stiffener help hold that hat’s shape.  To see if a hat fits you, measure your head where you want a hat to sit.  Ra-ra Raffia is:

• water-repellent
• vegan
• biodegradable 
• simple to clean with a damp cloth
