Noel Bennett became enchanted with the Navajo weaving process when living on the Navajo reservation where her husband had joined the Indian Health Service as a physician. Since she learned to weave the Navajo way, Noel has taught the craft at the University of New Mexico and in workshops throughout the country.

A California native, she graduated from Stanford University and has taught general art and weaving for fifteen years. She has written several articles and books on weaving and Navajo rugs.
