Stitch Markers? Why Stitch Markers?
How did Tammy and Hailee start making stitch markers? Textile conservator Tammy Martin has a killer bead collection and a lot of creativity. Her daughter Hailee is similarly creative. Sometimes Tammy must wait for things to dry before she can continue her work. Tammy doesn’t just sit around. So that’s how our new stitch marker collection was born!
What the Stitch Markers are Made From!
The beads may or may not be genuine something or other, but we’ve labeled each for materials as closely as we could guess. They are all genuinely cute and hand-assembled! The turquoise-looking beads are mostly plastic or dyed howlite, but some of the pieces look natural or stabilized. If sterling silver is involved, lucky you!
We can pretty much guarantee that these stitch markers will not be worth anything on the Antiques Roadshow! We know that stitch markers can spend a lot of time under sofa cushions, and the beads were selected accordingly.
The larger 9mm jump rings accommodate up to size nine needles, about 5.5 mm. The smaller 7mm jump rings will be better with needle sizes 5 (3.75mm) and under. Each set is labeled as to the jump ring size. They come in sets of two or four to suit your needs.
