One of Lena Tahe’s Navajo Prayer Feather Chief Blanket Variants is in our gallery. It seems like these wonderful rugs find homes very quickly, but we enjoy them while we have them. This version of Lena’s unique design features 22 feathers on a blue-and-black striped background that’s accented with shades of red. Others try to weave the design, but Lena is the acknowledged master of it.
Lena used commercial Brown Sheep yarn for this rug, the yarn of choice for most contemporary Navajo weavers. Just as each prayer is unique, each one of the feathers has an individual design. Lena’s stripes are skillfully done, and the red accents add tremendous graphic impact to this design. When most people see one of these for the first time, their response is often “Wow.” In fact, we still respond that way.

At Weaving in Beauty, we focus mainly on contemporary rugs acquired directly from artists we know personally. We believe in fair compensation and typically honor the artists' asking prices or come as close as possible.
Our commitment is to support living artists, which is why we rarely deal in vintage pieces. Every rug in our collection comes from weavers with whom we have built personal relationships.
